Chapter-5



पञ्चमोऽध्यायः
व्यास उवाच
एतावदुक्त्वा भगवान् योगिनां परमेश्वरः
 ननर्त्त परमं भावमैश्वरं सम्प्रदर्शयन् .१॥
तं ते ददृशुरीशानं तेजसां परमं निधिम्
 नृत्यमानं महादेवं विष्णुना गगनेऽमले .२॥
Meaning:
Vyasa said: -
By saying this much, Supreme Lord of yogis, exhibiting his glory started to dance. Then sages see Lord Shiva possessing great splendour dancing alongwith Lord Vishnu in the crystal-clear sky.

 यं विदुर्योगतत्त्वज्ञा योगिनो यतमानसाः
 तमीशं सर्वभूतानामाकशे ददृशुः किल .३॥
Meaning: - All sages witnessed the auspicious scene in fron of their eyes. The Yogi who well-aware of yogic practice can only witness such divine scene. Lord of all bhutas was seen by all the sages present there.
 यस्य मायामयं सर्वं येनेदं प्रेर्यते जगत्
 नृत्यमानः स्वयं विप्रैर्विश्वेशः खलु दृश्यते .४॥
Meaning: - This entire world is due to illusion of that Lord and by that Lord entire world is influenced, that Lord of Universe was seen as dancing by the sages present there.
 यत् पादपङ्कजं स्मृत्वा पुरुषोऽज्ञानजं भयम्
 जहति नृत्यमानं तं भूतेशं ददृशुः किल .५॥
Meaning: - One gets free from fear aroused of ignorance just by remembering the lotus feet of that Lord, Sages sees that Lord dancing in the sky.
 यं विनिद्रा जितश्वासाः शान्ता भक्तिसमन्विताः
 ज्योतिर्मयं प्रपश्यन्ति योगी दृश्यते किल .६॥
Meaning: - The person who has conquer the sleep, breath, is calm and his heart filled with devotion sees which form of splendour, thus yogi sees that Lord (Shiva).
 योऽज्ञानान्मोचयेत् क्षिप्रं प्रसन्नो भक्तवत्सलः
 तमेव मोचनं रुद्रमाकाशे ददृशुः परम् .७ ॥
Meaning: - That Lord who is kind to devotee, quickly make us free from ignorance, sages seen the same Rudra dancing in the sky.
 सहस्रशिरसं देवं सहस्रचरणाकृतिम्
 सहस्रबाहुं जटिलं चन्द्रार्धकृतशेखरम् .८॥
वसानं चर्म वैयाघ्रं शूलासक्तमहाकरम्
 दण्डपाणिं त्रयीनेत्रं सूर्यसोमाग्निलोचनम् .९॥
 ब्रह्माण्डं तेजसा स्वेन सर्वमावृत्य स्थितम्
 दंष्ट्राकरालं दुर्द्धर्षं सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभम् .१०॥
अण्डस्थं चाण्डबाह्यस्थं बाह्यमभ्यन्तरं परम्
सृजन्तमनलज्वालं दहन्तमखिलं जगत्
 नृत्यन्तं ददृशुर्देवं विश्वकर्माणमीश्वरम् .११॥
Meaning: - Rudra having infinite heads, infinite feets, infinite hands, with matted lock of hairs adorned by crescent moon on head, wearing skin of tiger, holding trident and dand in his hand, having three eyes resembling sun, moon and fire, self-illuminous situated in (whole) universe, having horrible fangs, possessing splendour of infinite suns, who is inside the cosmic egg as  well as outside of cosmic egg, creating destroyable fire which can convert entire creation into ashes, that Lord Vishwakarma- Shiva (Lord of all actions/Karma) was seen dancing by the sages.
महादेवं महायोगं देवानामपि दैवतम्
 पशूनां पतिमीशानं ज्योतिषां ज्योतिरव्ययम् .१२॥
 पिनाकिनं विशालाक्षं भेषजं भवरोगिणाम्
 कालात्मानं कालकालं देवदेवं महेश्वरम् .१३॥
 उमापतिं विरूपाक्षं योगानन्दमयं परम्
 ज्ञानवैराग्यनिलयं ज्ञानयोगं सनातनम् .१४॥
 शाश्वतैश्वर्यविभवं धर्माधारं दुरासदम्
 महेन्द्रोपेन्द्रनमितं महर्षिगणवन्दितम् .१५॥
 आधारं सर्वशक्तीनां महायोगेश्वरेश्वरम्
 योगिनां परमं ब्रह्म योगिनां योगवन्दितम्
 योगिनां हृदि तिष्ठन्तं योगमायासमावृतम्
 क्षणेन जगतो योनिं नारायणमनामयम् .१६॥
ईश्वरेणैकतापन्नमपश्यन् ब्रह्मवादिनः
दृष्ट्वा तदैश्वरं रूपं रुद्रनारायणात्मकम्
 कृतार्थं मेनिरे सन्तः स्वात्मानं ब्रह्मवादिनः .१७॥
Meaning: - Sages have darshana of Great God, Great Lord of Yoga, God of gods, Ishana, Pahupati, light of all lights (Supreme Light),  holding Pinaka, remedies of all diseased beings, soul of Kala (Time), Kala of all the Kalas, Maheshwara, Umapati, having un-even eyes/vast eyes, Refuge of Knowledge and Detachment, eternal glorious, base of Dharma, hard to attain, worshiped by great Indra and Vishnu, praised by great rshis, source  and base of all the energies, Lord of great yogis, Supreme Brahman, worshiped by yogis, situated in the heart of yogis, surrounded by yoga-maya.  Sages of higher fortune witness the Unblemished Narayana who is in the form of yoni (Source/origin) of worlds getting one with Rudra. Sages consider themselves fortunate to witness the glorius form of Rudra allied to Narayana.
 सनत्कुमारः सनको भृगुश्चसनातनश्चैव सनन्दनश्च
 रैभ्योऽङ्गिरा वामदेवोऽथ शुक्रो महर्षिरत्रिः कपिलो मरीचिः .१८॥
दृष्ट्वाऽथ रुद्रं जगदीशितारंतं पद्मनाभाश्रितवामभागम्
ध्यात्वा हृदिस्थं प्रणिपत्य मूर्ध्नाबद्ध्वाञ्जलिं स्वेषु शिरः सु भूयः .१९॥
Meaning: - Sanatkumara, Sanaka, Brugu, Sanatana, Sanandana, Rudra (Rshi), Angira, Vamadeva, Sukra, Maharsi Atri, Kapila and Marichi have darshana of Bhagawaaan Rudra on whose left side was Lord Padmanabham (Vishnu). Having concentrated on that form of rudra dwells in the heart, bow their head to rudra, joining both thee palms in devotion, stand there with attention.
ओङ्कारमुच्चार्य विलोक्य देव-मन्तः शरीरे निहितं गुहायाम्
 समस्तुवन् ब्रह्ममयैर्वचोभि-रानन्दपूर्णायतमानसास्ते .२०॥
Meaning: - Chanting “Pranava” and endowing their mind to Rudra, who is dwelling in their heart, begin to offer prayer to rudra, with concentrated mind joining both the palms together.

 मुनय ऊचुः
त्वामेकमीशं पुरुषं पुराणंप्राणेश्वरं रुद्रमनन्तयोगम्
 नमाम सर्वे हृदि सन्निविष्टंप्रचेतसं ब्रह्ममयं पवित्रम् .२१॥
त्वां पश्यन्ति मुनयो ब्रह्मयोनिंदान्ताः शान्ता विमलं रुक्मवर्णम्
 ध्यात्वात्मस्थमचलं स्वे शरीरे कविं परेभ्यः परमं परं .२२॥
त्वत्तः प्रसूता जगतः प्रसूतिः सर्वात्मभूस्त्वं परमाणुभूतः
 अणोरणीयान् महतो महीयां-स्त्वामेव सर्वं प्रवदन्ति सन्तः .२३॥
 हिरण्यगर्भो जगदन्तरात्मा त्वत्तोऽधिजातः पुरुषः पुराणः
 संजायमानो भवता विसृष्टो यथाविधानं सकलं ससर्ज .२४॥
 त्वत्तो वेदाः सकलाः सम्प्रसूता-स्त्वय्येवान्ते संस्थितिं ते लभन्ते
 पश्यामस्त्वां जगतो हेतुभूतं नृत्यन्तं स्वे हृदये सन्निविष्टम् .२५॥
 त्वयैवेदं भ्राम्यते ब्रह्मचक्रंमायावी त्वं जगतामेकनाथः
 नमामस्त्वां शरणं सम्प्रपन्नायोगात्मानं चित्पतिं दिव्यनृत्यम् .२६॥
 पश्यामस्त्त्वां परमाकाशमध्येनृत्यन्तं ते महिमानं स्मरामः
 सर्वात्मानं बहुधा सन्निविष्टंब्रह्मानन्दमनुभूयानुभूय .२७॥
 ॐकारस्ते वाचको मुक्तिबीजंत्वमक्षरं प्रकृतौ गूढरूपम्
 तत्त्वां सत्यं प्रवदन्तीह सन्तःस्वयंप्रभं भवतो यत्प्रभावम् .२८॥
 स्तुवन्ति त्वां सततं सर्ववेदानमन्ति त्वामृषयः क्षीणदोषाः
 शान्तात्मानः सत्यसंधं वरिष्ठविशन्ति त्वां यतयो ब्रह्मनिष्ठाः .२९॥
एको वेदो बहुशाखो ह्यनन्तस्त्वामेवैकं बोधयत्येकरूपम्
 वंन्द्यं त्वां ये शरणं सम्प्रपन्ना-स्तेषां शान्तिः शाश्वती नेतरेषाम् .३०॥
 भुवो नाशो नादिमान्विश्वरूपो-र्ब्रह्मा विष्णुः परमेष्ठी वरिष्टः
 स्वात्मानन्दमनुभूय विशन्तेस्वयं ज्योतिरचलो नित्यमुक्ताः .३१॥
Meaning:
Sages said: - You are the only Ishvara, Purana-Purusha, Lord of Prana, form of Infinite Yoga, dwells in heart, auspicious and Brahman, O Rudra we bow down to we bow down to you. The Sages who has conquered their senses see you as Immovable, pure, possessing sun-like lustre, Bramhyoni (Brahman which is source of all), foremost of all the excellence. You are the procreator of the entire creation. You are the greater than greatest and smaller than subtle says the wise men. Lord of Universe- Hiranyagarbh Purana Purusha is emerges from you. That Hiranyagarbha Purusha proceeds the creation once he took birth from you. Veda(s) have emerged from you (Shiva) and they will merge in you ultimately. Entire Universe is caused by you, and you are layed in our heart, you as dancing, is witnessed by us (Sages).  This Bramha-chakra functions by you, you are the lord of maya and sole lord of universe. We’ve came in your shelter, we bow down to you seeing you soul of yoga as dancing. We are seeing you dancing in the midst of sky and thus remembering your glory and experiencing the eternal bliss. You are denoted by ‘OMKAR’ which is seed for attaining the liberation. You confidentially dwell as ‘akshara’ and prakriti. Due to this very reason saints perceive you as ‘form of eternal truth’ and consider your splendour as self-illuminous. All veda(s) eulogise you. Free from all the impurities saints bow down to you. Yogis, with calm mind establish in yoga get merges in you since you are eternal truth. Various branches of infinite Veda make one realise your non-dual form. Those who takes your shelter attain eternal peace and not the rest of beings can attain it. At the time of annihilation, earth and other get destroyed, you are bramha, Vishnu, ancient parmeshthin. You are eternaly self-illuminous and yogis enter into it.
 एको रुद्रस्त्वं करोषीह विश्वंत्वं पालयस्यखिलं विश्वरूपम्
 त्वामेवान्ते निलयं विन्दतीदं नमामस्त्वां शरणं सम्प्रपन्नाः .३२॥
 त्वामेकमाहुः कविमेकरुद्रंब्रह्मं बृहन्तं हरिमग्निमीशम्
 इन्द्रं मृत्युमनिलं चेकितानंधातारमादित्यमनेकरूपम् .३३॥
 त्वमक्षरं परमं वेदितव्यं त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम्
 त्वमव्ययः शाश्वतधर्मगोप्तासनातनस्त्वं पुरुषोत्तमोऽसि .३४॥
 त्वमेव विष्णुश्चतुराननस्त्वं त्वमेव रुद्रो भगवानपीशः
 त्वं विश्वनाथः प्रकृतिः प्रतिष्ठासर्वेश्वरस्त्वं परमेश्वरोऽसि .३५॥
 त्वामेकमाहुः पुरुषं पुराण-मादित्यवर्णं तमसः परस्तात्
 चिन्मात्रमव्यक्तमचिन्त्यरूपंखं ब्रह्म शून्यं प्रकृतिं निर्गुणं .३६॥
 यदन्तरा सर्वमिदं विभाति यदव्ययं निर्मलमेकरूपम्
 किमप्यचिन्त्यं तव रूपमेतत् तदन्तरा यत्प्रतिभाति तत्त्वम् .३७॥
Meaning: - You are the non-dual Rudra who creates, sustain and destroy the creation. We arrived in your shelter. You are known as non-dual, Eka-Rudra, Prana, Brihat, Hari, Agni, Indra, Mrityu (death), wind-god, consciousness, dhata, Aditya and assumes various other forms. You are beyond destruction and best to be known. You are the best refuge of Universe. You are avyay (immortal), eternal, protector of Dharma, sanatan and best among the Purusha. You alone are Vishnu and four-faced Bramha. You alone are Rudra who is mater of (Pradhana) Prakriti. You are Lord of Universe, you yourself is Mool-Prakriti, Lord of all and Supreme Personality. You are called as non-dual, Purana-Purusha, having radiant of sun and beyond all darkness, form of consciousness, unmanifested, unthinkable, sky, Brahman, Sunya, Prakriti and beyond the attributes. Entire Creation shines within you as you are spotless, unthinkable and non-dual and within you everything shines.
 योगेश्वरं भद्रमनन्तशक्तिंपरायणं ब्रह्मतनुं पुराणम्
 नमाम सर्वे शरणार्थिनस्त्वांप्रसीद भूताधिपते महेश .३८॥
 त्वत्पादपद्मस्मरणादशेष-संसारबीजं निलयं प्रयाति
 मनो नियम्य प्रणिधाय कायंप्रसादयामो वयमेकमीशम् .३९॥
 नमो भवायास्तु भवोद्भवायकालाय सर्वाय हराय तुम्यम्
 नमोऽस्तु रुद्राय कपर्दिने ते नमोऽग्नये देव नमः शिवाय .४०॥
 ततः भगवान् प्रीतः कपर्दी वृषवाहनः
 संहृत्य परमं रूपं प्रकृतिस्थोऽभवद् भवः .४१॥
 ते भवं बूतभव्येशं पूर्ववत् समवस्थितम्
 दृष्ट्वा नारायणं देवं विस्मितं वाक्यमब्रुवन् .४२॥
 Meaning: - O Lord of Yoga, Lord of infinite power, Gentle, Ancient Lord, Brahman we all sages bow down to you.  O Supreme Lord of all bhutas, kindly be happy with us, we all are in your shelter. By concentrating on your lotus-feet seed of samsara (all blemish ations) gets destroyed. Contolling the mind, Regulaing the body, we all are making humble efforts to make you please, O non-dual Lord. O Bhava, Kala, Hara, Sarva we bow down to you (with devotion). O Shiva in the form of Agni, we bow down to you. Listening the prayer of sages, Lord Shiva reconciled his Cosmic form and get established in his own nature.  Then sages find Lord Shiva in the form of Narayana and got stunned and spoke to Lord.
भगवन् भूतभव्येश गोवृषाङ्कितशासन
 दृष्ट्वा ते परमं रूपं निर्वृताः स्म सनातन .४३॥
 भवत्प्रसादादमले परस्मिन् परमेश्वरे
 अस्माकं जायते भक्तिस्त्वय्येवाव्यभिचारिणी .४४॥
 इदानीं श्रोतुमिच्छामो माहात्म्यं तव शंकर
 भूयोऽपि तारयन्नित्यं याथात्म्यं परमेष्ठिनः .४५॥
  तेषां वाक्यमाकर्ण्य योगिनां योगसिद्धिदः
 प्राहः गम्भीरया वाचा समालोक्य माधवम् .४६॥
Meaning: - O eternal lord of past and future, rider of bull, witnessing your cosmic form we have satisfied. We got your unconditional devotion by your grace. At this moment we are willing to listen Your Glory as it is in its true form. On listening such words from sages bestower of all yogic siddhis that Maheshwara glanced at Vishnu and then begin to say…
 इति श्रीकूर्मपुराणे षट्साहस्त्र्यां संहितायामुपरिविभागे (ईश्वरगीतासु) पञ्चमोऽध्यायः ५॥
