चतुर्थोऽध्यायः
ईश्वर उवाच ।
वक्ष्ये समाहिता यूयं शृणुध्वं ब्रह्मवादिनः ।
माहात्म्यं देवदेवस्य येने सर्वं प्रवर्त्तते ॥ ४.१॥
Meaning:
Lord Said: - O Sages, listen carefully, I am going to narrate about that
Great Lord, by whose grace everything here (in universe) gets promoted.
नाहं तपोभिर्विविधैर्न दानेन न चेज्यया ।
शक्यो हि पुरुषैर्ज्ञातुमृते भक्तिमनुत्तमाम् ॥ ४.२॥
Meaning:
- Various types of Penance, or Donations, or fire Sacrifices are unable to
reveal my true form. Only through ardent and excellence devotion, Individual
becomes eligible to know me.
अहं हि सर्वभावानामन्तस्तिष्ठामि सर्वगः ।
मां सर्वसाक्षिणं लोको न जानाति मुनीश्वराः ॥ ४.३॥
Meaning: - O Munis, Being Omnipresent, I remain situated inside and
outside (of creation) and hence witness of all, yet worlds fail to recognise my
true nature.
यस्यान्तरा सर्वमिदं यो हि सर्वान्तकः परः ।
सोऽहंधाता विधाता च कालोऽग्निर्विश्वतोमुखः ॥ ४.४॥
Meaning:
- In which everything is being contained and that tattva which is situated
inside all beings, know me to be that dhata, Vidhata, Kala, Agni and having
faces in all directions.
न मां पश्यन्ति मुनयः सर्वे पितृदिवौकसः ।
ब्रह्मा च मनवः शक्रो ये चान्ये प्रथितौजसः ॥ ४.५॥
Meaning:
- All the saints, deities, departed ancestors, manu, Indra, Bramha and other radiant
entities caanot see me. (realise the true nature of lord).
गृणन्ति सततं वेदा मामेकं परमेश्वरम् ।
यजन्ति विविधैरग्निं ब्राह्मणा वैदिकैर्मखैः ॥ ४.६॥
Meaning:
- I am constantly praised in the Veda(s). And by performing myriad types of Vedic
Sacrifice(s) Brahmin is worshiping me only in the form of Agni.
सर्वे लोका नमस्यन्ति ब्रह्मा लोकपितामहः ।
ध्यायन्ति योगिनो देवं भूताधिपतिमीश्वरम् ॥ ४.७॥
Meaning:
- Every Lokas and Grand-Sire (of all lokas) Bramha bow down before me. I am
meditated by yogis as overlord of all beings.
अहं हि सर्वहविषां भोक्ता चैव फलप्रदः ।
सर्वदेवतनुर्भूत्वा सर्वात्मा सर्वसम्प्लुतः ॥ ४.८॥
Meaning:
- Know me to be the only enjoyer of all Sacrificial offerings and the conferrer
of the fruit(s) thereof. I am present by assuming celestial body of all
deities. (or as internal soul of all deities)
मां पश्यन्तीह विद्वांशो धार्मिका वेदवादिनः ।
तेषां सन्निहितो नित्यं ये भक्त्या मामुपासते ॥ ४.९॥
Meaning:
- Righteous People Scholar in Veda(s), are aware of my glory for those who are
endowed in faith worship me, I always stay beside (near) them.
ब्राह्मणाः क्षत्रिया वैश्या धार्मिका मामुपासते ।
तेषां ददामि तत् स्थानमानन्दं परमं पदम् ॥ ४.१०॥
Meaning: - Brahmins, Kshtriya, Vaishya and righteous people who worships
me, I confer them place in supreme abode and it is in the form of Ananda
(Joy/Bliss).
अन्येऽपि ये स्वधर्मस्थाः शूद्राद्या नीचजातयः ।
भक्तिमन्तः प्रमुच्यन्ते कालेन मयि संगताः ॥ ४.११॥
Meaning:
- If people of lower merits, discerning their duties, serves me with utmost
devotion and faith, they also get liberated.
न मद्भक्ता विनश्यन्ति मद्भक्ता वीतकल्मषाः ।
आदावेव प्रतिज्ञातं न मे भक्तः प्रणश्यति ॥ ४.१२॥
Meaning:
- My devotees never get perish. They are mitigated of the sins. I had divulged
in the exordium that my devotee shall never be vanish.
यो वै निन्दति तं मूढो देवदेवं स निन्दति ।
यो हि पूजयते भक्त्या स पूजयति मां सदा ॥ ४.१३॥
Meaning:
- Those people who offends my devotee is in reality offending me the Lord of
gods, similiarly, those who adores my devotee is actually adoring me.
पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं मदाराधनकारणात् ।
यो मे ददाति नियतं स मे भक्तः प्रियो मतः ॥ ४.१४॥
Meaning:
- One who Devotionally offers the Leaves, Flower, Fruits and water, such
devotee is beloved to me.
अहं हि जगतामादौ ब्रह्माणं परमेष्ठिनम् ।
विदधौ दत्तवान् वेदानशेषानात्मनिः सृतान् ॥ ४.१५॥
Meaning:
- In the beginning of Creation, Bramha Parmeshthi was created by me and Veda(s)
were dispensed to him by me.
अहमेव हि सर्वेषां योगिनां गुरुरव्ययः ।
धार्मिकाणां च गोप्ताऽहं निहन्ता वेदविद्विषाम् ॥ ४.१६॥
Meaning:
- I am indeed the eternal preceptor of all the yogis, know me to be the
protector of righteous people and an annihilator of those who offend Veda(s).
अहं वै सर्वसंसारान्मोचको योगिनामिह ।
संसारहेतुरेवाहं सर्वसंसारवर्जितः ॥ ४.१७॥
Meaning:
- Know me to be the liberator of yogis from this materialistic world. I am detached
from the worlds yet perceive me as the cause of creation.
अहमेव हि संहर्त्ता संस्रष्टा परिपालकः ।
मायावी मामीका शक्तिर्माया लोकविमोहिनी ॥ ४.१८॥
Meaning:
- Know me to be creator, sustainer and destroyer of the universe. Maya (Mool-Prakriti)
who allure the entire creation is my own potency.
ममैव च परा शक्तिर्या सा विद्यते गीयते ।
नाशयामि च तां मायां योगिनां हृदि संस्थितः ॥ ४.१९॥
Meaning:
- Supreme Potency of mine should be known as ‘Vidhya’. As I dwells in heart of
yogis, I annihilate their ‘Avidhya’ (ignorance).
अहं हि सर्वशक्तीनां प्रवर्त्तकनिवर्त्तकः ।
आधारभूतः सर्वासां निधानममृतस्य च ॥ ४.२०॥
Meaning:
- know me alone to be enforcer as well as withdrawer of all the potency, besides
being support of all (potencies) I am the abode of immortality in the form of
nectar.
एका सर्वान्तरा शक्तिः करोति विविधं जगत् ।
आस्थाय ब्रह्माणो रूपं मन्मयी मदधिष्ठिता ॥ ४.२१॥
Meaning:
- One of my potency, established in me and formulation of mine, situated in innerself
of all beings, assumes the form of four-faced Bramha and creates various types
of worlds.
अन्या च शक्तिर्विपुला संस्थापयति मे जगत् ।
भूत्वा नारायणोऽनन्तो जगन्नाथो जगन्मयः ॥ ४.२२॥
Meaning:
- My other potency, known as Anant (Infinite), Jagganath (Lord of Universe), assumes
the form of Narayana for nurturing and sustaining the worlds.
तृतीया महती शक्तिर्निहन्ति सकलं जगत् ।
तामसी मे समाख्याता कालाख्या रुद्ररूपिणी ॥ ४.२३॥
Meaning:
- My third potency, which is formation of Rudra, by the name of Kala, is tamasi
and it annihilates the entire creation.
ध्यानेन मां प्रपश्यन्ति केचिज्ज्ञानेन चापरे ।
अपरे भक्तियोगेन कर्मयोगेन चापरे ॥ ४.२४॥
Meaning:
- Few beings by the meditation, few beings by the path of Knowledge, few beings
by following karma and rest of people in the path of Bhakti (devotion) visualize
me.
सर्वेषामेव भक्तानामिष्टः प्रियतमो मम ।
यो हि ज्ञानेन मां नित्यमाराधयति नान्यथा ॥ ४.२५॥
Meaning:
- Those seekers who seek me exclusively through the medium of knowledge are dearest
to me.
अन्ये च हरये भक्ता मदाराधनकाङ्क्षिणः ।
तेऽपि मां प्राप्नुवन्त्येव नावर्त्तन्ते च वै पुनः ॥ ४.२६॥
Meaning:
- Other seeker who follows rest of the (three) paths also achieves me and they don’t
require to return in the worlds.
मया ततमिदं कृत्सनं प्रधानपुरुषात्मकम् ।
मय्येव संस्थितं चित्तं मया सम्प्रेर्यते जगत् ॥ ४.२७॥
Meaning:
- Through me only, entire creation of Pradhana (prakriti) and Purusha
(Individual Soul) is pervaded. Entire creation dwells inside me and by me alone
it (creation) get influenced.
नाहं प्रेरयिता विप्राः परमं योगमाश्रितः ।
प्रेरयामि जगत्कृत्स्नमेतद्यो वेद सोऽमृतः ॥ ४.२८॥
Meaning:
- I am not the influencer, yet stationed in yoga, entire creation is influenced
by me. Those who realize it attains immortality.
पश्याम्यशेषमेवेदं वर्त्तमानं स्वभावतः ।
करोति कालो भगवान् महायोगेश्वरः स्वयम् ॥ ४.२९॥
Meaning:
- Restrained to my own nature, I am witness of entire world. Mahayogeshwar Bhagawaan
Kala creates the entire Creation.
योगः सम्प्रोच्यते योगी मायी शास्त्रेषु सूरिभिः ।
योगेश्वरोऽसौ भगवान् महादेवो महान् प्रभुः ॥ ४.३०॥
Meaning:
- who is refered as Yoga, Yogi and Maya by people well-versed in scriptures, is
none other than Maha-Yogeshwar Lord Mahadeva.
महत्त्वं सर्वतत्त्वानां वरत्वात् परमेष्ठिनः ।
प्रोच्यते भगवान् ब्रह्मा महान् ब्रह्मयोऽमलः ॥ ४.३१॥
Meaning:
- Parmesthi is beyond every essence, hence importance of all essence itself is
known as Lord Bramha. And this Bramha is identical to Brahman (in essence) and
hence pure.
यो मामेवं विजानाति महायोगेश्वरेश्वरम् ।
सोऽविकल्पेन योगेन युज्यते नात्र संशयः ॥ ४.३२॥
Meaning: - Those who knows me as Maha-yogeshwar of all gods, that human
is contained in nirvikalp yoga (samadhi) and there remains no doubt regarding
the same.
सोऽहं प्रेरयिता देवः परमानन्दमाश्रितः ।
नृत्यामि योगी सततं यस्तद् वेद स वेदवित् ॥ ४.३३॥
Meaning:
- Inspiring yogis to take the shelter of ultimate bliss, I continuously dance,
those who know this is having perfect knowledge.
इति गुह्यतमं ज्ञानं सर्ववेदेषु निष्ठितम् ।
प्रसन्नचेतसे देयं धार्मिकायाहिताग्नये ॥ ४.३४॥
Meaning: - This is very confidential knowledge provided in the Veda
which I narrated. It should be provided with delighted mind only to righteous
people and Agnihotras.
इति श्रीकूर्मपुराणे षट्साहस्त्र्यां संहितायामुपरिविभागे (ईश्वरगीतासु) चतुर्थोऽध्यायः ॥ ४॥
